INVICTA FC 2 streaming FREE this Saturday

Posted in MMA on July 27, 2012 by wtfhwrestling

If you caught the inaugural Invicta FC outing you won’t want to miss their return this Saturday, streaming live on at 7 PM EST from Kansas City.

Featuring many of the top names in women’s MMA (even on the mic with Julie Kedzie on commentary) INVICTA FC looks to prove WMMA deserves just as much respect as any MMA does.

The main event sees 2004 wrestling silver medalist Sarah Mcmann taking on  the more experienced Shayna Baszler.  Sarah has been undefeated since her debut with 5 wins while Baszler has faced a lot of top contenders and champions with a 14-6 record.  On the last INVICTA FC Show there was another Olympian as well who didn’t return to this next event so I’m sure the women will be looking to impress all through the show.

Three Canadians are also on the show with contender Alexis Davis taking on Hitomi Akano,as well as Julia Budd facing Elina Nilson.  Both are coming off of losses (with both of those winners fighting August 11th for Strikeforce gold)but will be hungry to get back on the winning track Saturday night.  Debuting as well is BC’s Cheryl Chan in one of the openers.

The rest of the card  can be found on their website as well as all the stats for the fighters.  The first few match ups have several virgins to the cage as well which may deter fans first tuning in early but the fans who stick around for the main card won’t be disappointed.  Not that I don’t expect a few quick KOs in the prelims.  Testosterone aside its still MMA so  check it out,its not like it’ll cost you anything.

ECW stars at Metal TO

Posted in Ont.indy, x big league SUPA-STARS!! on July 26, 2012 by wtfhwrestling

The Apocalypse Wrestling Federation is invading HEAVY T.O with their HEAVYWEIGHT series and not only will Ontarios finest be represented but several ECW stars will be in action as well.  Joe E. Legend will also be in action making his return to Ontario action which is something worth paying to see by itself.  He posted on facebook he hasn’t looked forward to an event like this one EVER so you know he’ll show the Ontario fans what we’ve been missing for years.  The AWF ALWAYS delivers entertaining shows as well so the combination of talents should make for a night of hardcore you won’t forget.

BUT if thats not hardcore enough for ya the festival also includes the top metal bands of the last twenty years including…

Marilyn Manson
System of a Down
5 Finger Death Punch
Lamb of God
Cannibal Corpse
Suicidal Tendencies
Killswitch Engage
and many, many more!
I would personally bill Marilyn first(even though he hates Canada) followed by The Deftones but that could be because I’ve seen The Deftones 12 times(last time was with Korn at Ontario Place and I banged a skeez in the seats lol TMI?) and think Slipknot are one hit wonders.  I’d love to see The Deftones again given the chance though so who knows you might see me in the pit after all.  Check out for tickets.

Alvarez debuts in Ontario

With one last fight on his contract with Bellator former lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez has made public he’ll be fighting October 15th in Windsor.  WIll Bellator try to keep the top LW and give him a softer fight?  Or give the fans the rematch we’ve wanted with Chandler defending his title against the man he won the title from.

UFC 149 this weekend from CALGARY

Posted in MMA on July 18, 2012 by wtfhwrestling

This weekend the UFC returns to Canada with their first ever show in the province of Alberta.  Plagued by injuries and setbacks this show has had the line up changed a few times before settling on the show we’ll see Saturday night.  All of the undercard is set up with Canadians facing international competition.  The fans will no doubt be firmly supportive of our Canadian fighters but we’ll see how many complaints show up the next day on the internet of us taking it too far.

Ryan Jimmo debuts with the company as well as Mitch Gagnon who has been training at the Tapout facility in Burlington with Josh Hill and other top locals.

Roland Delorme and Chris Clements hope to keep their winning streaks alive in their home country.

A big match added somewhat late to the card is top middleweight Hector Lombard debuting with the biggest organization in MMA.  Facing Tim Boetsch the former Bellator champion looks to prove to the world that he belongs in the octagon with Anderson Silva and the best in the world.

The main event will see Urijah Faber fighting Renan Barao for the interim bantamweight title.  A solid main event anywhere Renan Barao has his opportunity to claim the prestige his record long winning streak lacks with a battle with one of the best bantamweights fighting today.  I think this is Baraos fight to win and much like Lombard if he can dish out a highlight reel performance this event could launch them into the upper echelon of MMA and up every top ten I can’t be bothered to calculate lol.

Score Fighting Series back on August 25th

Posted in MMA on July 18, 2012 by wtfhwrestling

Score Fighting returns to Hamilton August 25th with a huge main event of arguably the top two bantamweights in the country.  A fight both men had been preparing for before having it postponed, the two finally get to show the people who can step up and be number one in the Score Fighting Bantamweight division.    Also scheduled for the card are Will Romero,Ryan Dickson,Lyndon Whitlock,Adam Assenza,Jason Meisel,Tristan Johnson and a few others that slip my mind at the moment.  Follow Score Fighting on facebook or for more info as the matches get approved by the OAC.
