Posted in interviews, MMA on March 29, 2011 by wtfhwrestling

Heres a clip of Ex UFC hw Champ Brock Lesnar on Jimmy Fallon last night.

Notice the pathetic RNC lol.  Early in the interview he says the WWE “wasn’t for him” then he ends the interview with a hammerlock out of a RNC?  C’mon son you know no MMA fighters are reversing shit with hammerlocks lol.  Go back to the (ww)E already lol.

For more Brock check him out Wednesday night at 9 picking a team to do battle with Junior Dos Santos on this seasons Ultimate Fighter.

MMA in Hamilton

Posted in MMA on March 28, 2011 by wtfhwrestling

Following the news that TapouT is opening a new Mixed martial Arts gym in Burlington On.  TapouT has also announced its venturing into live fight promoting in the Ontario area.  Starting at Hamilton Place a press conference was held earlier today to announce the show but I didn’t know it was happening until ten minutes ago(damnit).

“Tickets are available for $69.50, $99.50 and $149.50 for cage-side seating as well VIP tables will be made available plus applicable service charges. Tickets are available at the Copps Coliseum Box Office, Ticketmaster.ca or call (855) 872-5000.

“This upcoming event will be like no other fight Ontario has seen before. We have an incredible combination of being at Hamilton Place and with the fighters in a cage, this is sure to be an explosive night of action and entertainment,” said Garnet Ace, a spokesperson for Global Warriors Fighting Championship.

The fight card includes local favorites as well as fighters from all the major training camps in the Ontario region, including the recently announced TapouT Training Center in Hamilton, will compete in this first Global Warrior Fighting Championship MMA card, which is subject to change.

Title sponsor for the event will be TapouT Training Centers. The event is sanctioned by Ontario Athletic Commission.

Sam Stout interview

Posted in MMA on March 26, 2011 by wtfhwrestling

On March 26th I got a chance to talk to Canadian UFC lightweight Sam “hands of Stone” Stout.  He was making an appearance signing photos and JAKT apparel in FIGHT ZONE a Hamilton Ontario MMA store.  The line was almost out the door before Stout showed up.  the owners of Fight Zone had been promoting this appearance for awhile so alot of local fight fans came out to get an autograph sample some Xenergy drinks and ask a couple questions.  I took the chance myself to ask a few questions, problem being I didn’t have anyone to film for me(we arrived at 10:30 am too early for anyone living a Friday night lifestyle like all my friends do).  So I dragged my daughter to the mall to film.  Sam and I talked for about ten minutes only to find out my daughter had only taken a picture not a vid.  Graciously Stout agreed to re-do this shorter interview.  Questions I asked in the other interview were

“Who are the upcoming Canadian fighters we should watch out for” He answered with Claude Patrick and Sean Pierson who he seemed confident were going to have good showings at UFC 129.

As well I asked if he felt he matched up well with wrestlers(the top two lw contenders being wrestlers)and he said he thinks he does and has trained with Gray Maynard before and would be excited to be thrown into the title scene(he has gone undefeated for awhile now).   I also asked if he would step in the cage at 170 anytime if GSP lost the title perhaps and he said that wouldn’t be very good for him as most welterweights walk around at 190-200.  Here’s the footage I did get enjoy.

Titan FC 17 flop of the year?/results

Posted in MMA on March 26, 2011 by wtfhwrestling

Tonight Titan fighting Championship promoted an event out of Kansas.  Featuring Bobby Lashley fighting against John Ott(whos 30 lbs lighter and has a whopping 8-7 record)and Phil Baroni taking on local Nick Nolte(not the actor).

In both bouts the more famed half of the fight gassed out early and relied on lay and preying out very uninteresting wins.  Both fights got boos throughout the matches as well as the commentators even turning on the fighters.  “This is the last way you want to see a fight” said Frank Trigg at ringside as well at the end the other commentators suggested Lashley would get MURDERED in the ring with a Overeem or Carwin.  I’ve never seen such disgust from both fans and commentators alike in mma.  It seemed like I was watching RAW or an old extra crappy NITRO then a current MMA show.

In between these uninspired shitfests that made the underdog look way better then the supposed name.  There was one entertaining bout in Aaron Rosa with Pete Spratt in his corner tapped out Abe Wagner(coming off a quicky win over Tim Sylvia)after a barrage of heavy fisted punches.  After the match Rosa said he’s only fighting heavyweight because he had a baby and got fat.  Funny stuff all night on this show.  At the end of the event one has to wonder if Lashley should even continue MMA with his outings being so lackluster.  Perhaps made for dvd movies where he fights Kimbo Slice and someone personally triumphs is his future *shrugs* who knows?  Any comebacks possible in combat sports.

UFC fight night 24-rematch could steal the show

Posted in MMA on March 26, 2011 by wtfhwrestling

UFC has another big event scheduled for this Saturday March 26th featuring Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Phil Davis as well as welterweight contenders Anthony RUMBLE Johnson and UK superstar Dan Hardy competing in the co main event.  However fight of the night could very possibly be the rematch on the undercard.

Last year when Leonard Garcia and THE KOREAN ZOMBIE Chan Sung Jung fought they gave the performances of there lifetimes perhaps and had a possible fight of the year.  Heres hoping they can match that performance and deliver another high energy slugfest that are common for both athletes.  Pictured is both fighters after there last battle.  Google it if you want video.

The rest of the card looks like…

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (19-4; #8 Light Heavyweight)* vs. Phil Davis (8-0)
Dan Hardy (23-8) vs. Anthony Johnson (8-3)
Amir Sadollah (4-2) vs. Damarques Johnson (17-8)
Leonard Garcia (15-6-1) vs. Chan Sung Jung (10-3)

Preliminary Bouts (On Facebook):
Alex “Bruce Leroy” Caceres (4-2) vs. Mackens Semerzier (5-3)–on 7:30pm on facebook
Jon Madsen (7-0) vs. Mike Russow (13-1)===also seen on facebook 730
John Hathaway (14-1) vs. Kris McCray (5-2)
Michael McDonald (11-1) vs. Edwin Figueroa (7-0)
Sean McCorkle (10-1) vs. Christian Morecraft (6-1)–can be seen on facebook

Preliminary Bouts (Non-Televised):
Johny Hendricks (9-1) vs. T.J. Waldburger (13-5)
Mario Miranda (10-2) vs. Aaron Simpson (7-2)
Waylon Lowe (10-3) vs. Nik Lentz (20-3-2)

Hopefully we get some more knockouts like last weeks UFC and not a bunch of poorly called decisions or disqualifications that seem to have become common place.
